Using the Libraries
Procedures on using the Libraries:
- A student or faculty/staff ID is required to use library services. Please do not forget to bring your ID with you when using the library.
- When users affiliated with Waseda University other than students, full-time faculty and staff wish to use library services, a “Library Card” is required. Please see Part-time Lecturers and Researchers for more information.
- Alumni who wish to use library services must use their Waseda Card, Waseda University Supporter’s Association Card, or Alumni Association Card. Please see Alumni for more information.
- User services may vary at the university’s libraries depending on the user's status at Waseda. For more information, please visit Libraries & Reading Rooms.
- Please direct inquiries about library issued cards to the Information Desk on the second floor of the Central Library.
- Users are not required to sign out when they leave the library, however, they are requested to go through the BDS (Book Detection System).
Notices:
- Smoking, eating and drinking in the libraries are prohibited.
- Please keep your valuables with you at all times to prevent theft.
- Please do not talk on your mobile phones in the libraries. Please turn off phones or set to silent mode so that other users are not disturbed.
- Please handle books, materials and equipment carefully. Should any materials be damaged, the user may be liable for charges incurred to replace or repair the item. Please see Liability for Lost or Damaged Books for more information.
- Please use computers and calculators in designated areas. Library users are not permitted to bring in recording equipment, such as cameras and scanners, inside the library without prior permission.
- The use of coin lockers is limited to one day. Please take your bags and belongings with you when leaving.
- Library users are not permitted to take books and other materials out of the library without checking them out. Please follow the necessary procedures at the Check-Out Desk when leaving.
