Tokorozawa Library Facility

1. Open reading area
The open reading area is located outside of the entrance of Tokorozawa
Library.
You can use your own PC connected with the wireless/wired LAN of Waseda
university here and in the library. For details of how to access the LAN, see
"Network Use Guide" by IT Center.
2. Newspaper corner
The following newspapers are subscribed (current and last month available):
Japanese newspapers: Asahi, Sankei, Nikkei, Mainichi,
Tokyo, Yomiuri, Saitama, Sports Nippon, Nikkan Sports, Waseda Sports,
Nippon Kyoiku;
Foreign language newspapers: Japan Times,
Dong-A Ilbo, The New
York Times, Le monde, Suddeutsche Zeitung.
There are 15 reading seats by the side of the newspaper stacks.
3. Entrance/Exit gates
Scan your user’s card (Student ID, Faculty and staff ID, or Library
card) at the entrance gate.
Users must pass through the book detection system (BDS) when exiting the library.
4. Counter
The following services are available at the library counter:
Information, Borrowing and Returning books, ILL requests, Book purchase
requests, Application for use of library facilities, Reference services,
etc.
Feel free to ask the library staff members for help.
5. AV corner
Ask at the counter when you want to use
audiovisual materials such as DVDs and video tapes.
Materials
of the Career Center of Waseda University are also available.
You cannot use
your own audiovisual materials with the equipment in the AV corner.
You cannot make any copies of AV materials.
6. Information retrieval corner
The corner is equipped with:
WINE PCs (5) for searching library materials through our online
catalog, WINE,
Internet PCs (4) for accessing to e-resources such as
bibliographical databases and online journals through the Waseda
University LAN (Your Waseda-net ID and PIN number required) ,
A PC with printer for CD-ROM,
A micro reader printer and micro film stacks,
and a copy machine.

7. Popular periodicals area
Newly issued general periodicals and sports journals.
Periodicals are restricted to In-Library use only.
8. Japanese paperbacks area
Japanese paperbacks can be borrowed in the same way as other books.
There are 10 reading seats near the paperback stacks.
9. Copy corner
There are 1 copy machine and 1 copy card vending machine in the copy corner;
1 copy machine in the Information retrieval corner;
2 copy machines and 1 copy card vending
machine in the "Learned periodicals" area.
Prepaid copy cards are available at
1000 yen or 2000 yen. Vending machines accept 1000 yen bills only.
10. Group reading rooms (2
rooms)
The group reading rooms may be used freely for group study using library
materials.
Room 1 (no windows): Seating for 13 at 2 rectangular tables, 1
white board and 1 DVD player.
Room 2 (with windows): Seating for 13 at 2 rectangular
tables and 1 white board.
Wireless LAN is available. No eating/drinking.
11. Reference books area
Encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, maps, etc. Reference books
are restricted to In-Library use only.
12. Japanese books area
Japanese books with call number 000-799. (000- General works, 100-
Philosophy, 200- History, 300- Social Sciences, 400- Natural Sciences,
500- Technology, 600- Industry and 700- Arts)
Books are shelved in the order of the NDC, Nippon Decimal
Classification.

Reduced size-edition of "Asahi newspaper";
Japanese books with call number 800-999(800- Language and 900- Literature);
Oda Mikio Collection(Books related with sports).
15. Learned periodicals area
Recently issued academic periodicals in Japanese and foreign languages are
shelved in alphabetical order;
Yearbooks and white papers in NDC order;
Dissertations and theses submitted by the students of School of Human Sciences and
the School of Sport Sciences, Waseda University ;
Publications of Waseda University.
There are reading desks, 2 copy machines and 1 copy card vending machine..
16. Reading rooms for
individuals(5 rooms)
These small reading rooms are available for faculty members and
doctoral/masters students ONLY.
17. Electric stacks (Foreign and
Japanese Books)
Foreign language books with call number 000-999;
A part of Japanese books (mainly series books.)
Books are shelved in the NDC order.
Turn the "OPEN/RESET" switch to the "OPEN" position. After finishing,
turn it to "RESET." You can open only one block of electric stacks
at a time.
18. Electric stacks (Bound
periodicals)
Bound periodicals (back issues) in Japanese and foreign languages.
Periodicals are shelved in alphabetical order of journal title.
Turn the "OPEN/RESET" switch to the "OPEN" position. After finishing,
turn it to "RESET". You can open only one block of the electric stacks at
a time.
