; 1 sheet ; This print is inscribed with what is considered the first Western-style military ballad in Japan. The phrase of this song that goes, "Miya-san, miya-san . . ." (Imperial prince, sir, Imperial prince, sir . . .) is widely known even today. The words and music are ascribed to Shinagawa Yajiro (who later become home minister) and Omura Masujiro (known as the architect of Japan's modern military system). The lyrics express blatant hostility toward the shogunate’s troops, as in such parts as "cowardly Kanto samurai and brave Satsuma-Choshu-Tosa men."
