Spine title.
Imprint from leaf mounted on 1st fly-leaf.
Gilt-edge leaves are tabbed into album with lacquer boards and leather spine; front cover has hand-painted and inlaid scene of a mother and her two children playing shadow picture; inlays are of mother-of-pearl and ivory; back cover is painted view of lotus flowers and a butterfly.
Consists of 50 hand-tinted photographs mounted on 25 leaves show landscapes in Japan, manners and customs, and costumes of Japan; each photograph has English caption mounted below and some kind of sequential no. printed within.
Central Library's copy (HD 01955 2) put in a multitiered wooden box with similar item.
